About me

Ananda Leininger, therapist for autistic and adhd adults, sitting on a couch and smiling at the camera

Hi!

I’m Ananda (pronounced uh - NON - duh).  It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized I was Autistic, and later ADHD.  Recognizing that about myself made me rethink my own childhood, as well as how I was currently living my life.  With my own therapy, I worked on unmasking more, and on being honest about the things that I could do to make my life work better for me.  While I still sometimes get stuck on thinking about how I ‘should’ be, I’m more able to embrace what I actually can and can’t do, and to acknowledge my strengths.

I work with adults who are learning more about their neurodivergence and what it means to their lives.  They want to learn to accept themselves for who they are, and stop masking so much.  My experience of my own journey (which is different than yours will be), led me to see the value of putting more energy into what’s important to me and less into trying to appear neurotypical.

I live in Tacoma Washington, and I love puzzles of all kinds, reconnecting with nature, and have a whole variety of arts and crafts hobbies that I enjoy.  I initially got my degree in mathematics, and then decided I wanted to be in a career where I could more actively help others.
